Can I still get movers in a week or two?
Often, yes — especially outside May to September and away from the end of the month. Ask every company for its soonest pickup date.
A moving container usually needs about a week. A rental truck and a labor-only crew can often be booked in a few days.
Being in a hurry is when people get taken advantage of. Still check the USDOT number, still ask if they're the mover or a broker, still get the price in writing, and don't pay a large deposit.
Pick a pickup date a day or two after you expect to finish packing, so one bad day doesn't sink the plan.
